Playground Project
We have big plans for our “outdoor classroom.” Of course we’ll have space for the running, jumping and climbing that can’t be done in an indoor environment but the playground should also be for explorations of all sorts like: dramatic play (perhaps in the mud kitchen/restaurant), collaborative play (at the water table), music (in the sound garden), art (at the easels or elsewhere), science (at the grinding table, scales or pulleys) and even a quiet spot for reading under one of the trees. It will have something for everyone . . .with wood mulch to replace the sand underfoot and a shade structure overhead.
Professional Development
We know it’s our teachers who make our school so special so we are always investing in their professional growth and development. We send our teachers to the annual conferences of the North American Reggio Emilia Alliance (NAREA) and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), offer them local classes from Region 19 and the Paso del Norte NAEYC (PDNAEYC) and provide online learning opportunities such as the Fairy Dust Teaching conference. The teachers who attend share what they’ve learned at the next scheduled professional development day so our entire staff benefits from the experience. Conference costs, airfare and hotel stays are expensive but we believe that this is an essential investment in the caliber of our teachers and our school. Security
It is unfortunate fact but, these days, we must do all we can to ensure that we provide the highest level of safety and security for our children. Amongst other things we have off duty police officers on campus as well as security training for our teachers and staff. We continually review and improve all that we can do to keep our students and employees safe.
Scholarships
All parents would like to offer their children the very best education, but sometimes that’s difficult to do. We, at The J, take pride in helping to ensure our education is within reach of as many children as possible so we’ve established a scholarship fund. Scholarships are generously funded by a grant from The Jewish Federation of Greater El Paso and people like you.
In honor or in memory of
“In honor of” and “In Memory of” gifts are wonderful ways to express how much you care for someone special and to do something meaningful on their behalf.
General
There are many less glamorous but necessary projects that we are continually working on at The J. Although our building is beautiful there are always repairs that are needed when one occupies a space, especially an older one. Our library is off to a great start, but there is always room in our lives, and on our shelves, for more books. We are currently focusing on increasing the number of books we have for all ages that are bilingual or written in Spanish. There are a myriad of projects and needs that a top notch preschool has just to keep operating at the level we expect of ourselves. Your gift to our general fund will go to projects like these and more.
